Developing Sheldon

Two weeks before he is about to marry 25-year-old Susan Ashton,

27-year-old Sheldon Wexler's blood work reveals a problem. A serious problem. A cancer. And as if the news of his cancer were not bad enough, he has to navigate his way through the dysfunction he calls family. A mother who can't say the word cancer, a father who expects him to be his business partner, a grandfather with Alzheimer's, and an aunt who insists his illness is "nothing". Also with this news, Susan decides to pull a no show at their wedding. Concentrating on his treatments and determination to get better, he's surrounded by two of his closest childhood friends, 25-year-old Elizabeth Pressman and his 26-year-old cousin Robbie Miller.

Along with the news of his remission, Sheldon is forced to face the truth that his perfect world has never been so perfect. He hates working with his father and wants a career that involves his lifelong passion of photography. His laid back cousin Robbie has also faced some truths about his own life, and convinces Sheldon that they would buy the local camera store. They do.

Sheldon also comes face to face with the truth that he always loved Elizabeth, but Elizabeth's fear of intimacy prevents him from getting closer. However, with her mother now dead, she sets out to find her father after 20 years. When she finally finds him, he abruptly turns her away, ironically bringing her closer to Sheldon just as he begins a second battle for his life.

When Elizabeth marries Sheldon on his deathbed, "Developing Sheldon" answers the question "Is it ever too late to find true love?"  While providing the comic edge we can witness in any family when we are able to step back and take a look, the answer is a heartwarming and sensitive "No".

It is never too late to find true love.
